Molasses cake
Is now John's responsibility. His brown sugar frosting is 100% better than mine and I'm not embarrassed to admit it!

It's June!
The kids were delighted to wake me at 7 am this morning to tell me IT!IS! JUNE!! We have been talking about NewBaby's arrival since Thanksgiving and how it will happen in June. Both kids were excited and talking hundreds of miles per hour this morning because today! Is! June!
I had to work hard to keep a straight face in order to explain that now our baby will be here very soon - but probably not today*.
*it could be today, but isn't looking like it. I'm still happy to sit back and wait to see when this baby decides to make it his or her birthday.

Approaching 39 weeks
Or: no raspberry is safe. I have eaten through roughly 2 lbs of raspberries over the last 3 days. I have another pound in the fridge I'm probably going to finish today. Soooo delicious!

Memorable day
W: mom? What is memorable day?
Mama: what? Where did you see that?
W: on my calendar in my room.*
Mama: ummmm.....(thinking, thinking, thinking... How do I answer without unleashing the onslaught of questions and war, soldiers, dying, remembering, etc....ummmmmm)
William: Are you making tacos for dinner? I love tacos!
Mama: ( yes! An uncomplicated question I can answer!! Hurray!) yes! We are having tacos!
William: where does that meat come from?
Mama: (groans) want a treat?
* I gave William a wall calendar for Christmas I got for free at work. I think it might be his favorite present ever. He adores looking at it and gauging how long it will be until important events occur, etc.

Week 37
We had an OB appointment today and I thought I would drop by and update....
There isn't anything significant happening. Baby is sounding good, everything else is looking normal as can be for this stage in the game.
We spent the bulk of the appointment talking about delivery preferences, hospital options, and other unexciting details.

When I grow up, a dinner conversation
Amelia: When I grow up....
Mama: (baited breath, stars in her eyes) Yes?
Amelia: I want to be a fairy princess first!
Mama: (slightly deflated) Oh?
Amelia: Yes. A fairy princess with a magic wand. And then I want to be just a princess. After that I will drive a backhoe.
William: A backhoe is a great idea! Or a front end loader. It might have a special box to put your magic wand in while you are driving.
Mama:???? (what to say??) I can't wait to hear all about it!

Le Sigh
I came out this morning to chase the kiddos into their clothes and to brig their teeth. In the flurry of activity, I asked Amelia to being me a new diaper so we could change her up. Her response?
"don't worry mom. I already did it."
After further investigation, she was right. She did change her own diaper.
If only she would be interested in potty training... Sigh....
