Our house

I am so impressed! Complete with windows, chimneys, and Daddy work area (bottom, center). Perhaps, ears as well?

PS. Notice the name at the top? Made me laugh!

Update,,, or Old dates

I've finally gotten around to filling in some of the holes from earlier in the year. Here are some links:

Four down, ten more to go! Good thing I have yet another snow day tomorrow!

Underwhelmed

Well....the snow total wasn't anywhere near the predicted 8-20 inches promised for Blizzard 2011. (Iwill note the town 90 miles to the west has gotten 18+ inches during this storm.) However, it has been raining, freezing rain or snowing for almost the last 48 hours. This table sits on our patio and shows pretty accurately the snowfall total. What you can't see is the ice layer underneath - although the icicles hanging off the side are pretty impressive. So, as far as blizzards go, I've seen better. But holing up inside our house for a few days has been a nice change of pace around here.

I'm getting pretty stir crazy. We've not been out of the house except to shovel since Monday afternoon. It might be a new record. I've enjoyed catching up with some leisurely reading and sewing as well as spending some time with the family - John has been home the last two days as well. I've even gone back and filled in some Very Old entries from last year. I have one more I'm working on tonight and then I'll post some links to help you find them.

Amelia Potter

We got some H@rry P0tter stickers yesterday at the library. They have been great at entertaining me for a pretty big chunk of time today. Close to 7 hours later, she is still sporting her lightening bolt.

Waiting is so hard....

ICE!

Here is the deck view this morning. I especially like the big drips hanging from the chairs. You can see all the snow from previous pictures is now gone - replaced with a pretty thick layer of ice. Also? It is still raining. Because everyone is home today and potentially for the next couple of days, we made fresh caramel rolls for breakfast. From scratch. (I'd like to point out that breakfast was inspired by Jenn's Facebook posting yesterday)

It begins

We've had freezing rain all day. The streets are a slushy mess and will probably be an ice rink tomorrow morning. The snow is supposed to begin overnight -we'll see what morning brings.

We made a quick trip to the store for some soup ingredients ( seems like that is a rule. When it is snowy, there should be a pot of soup on the stove). We also hit up the library for some new reading material. This was our driveway and mailbox this morning. Of course, the ice/slush is all thicker now.
